Amos Yang, cello recital

Amos Yang  is the Assistant Principal Cellist of the San Francisco Symphony. He is also Principal Cellist of the Sun Valley Music Festival and played with the Seattle Symphony from 2002-2007. Prior to that, Yang cultivated a chamber music career with the Maia String Quartet which held residencies at The Peabody Conservatory and at the University of Iowa, while also working with the Interlochen Center for the Arts, the Midori Foundation and Aspen Festival. Much of this work included presentations in schools for under represented students in inner cities and musical ambassador work abroad.

 

Yang now serves on the faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Tianjin Juilliard and the San Francisco Academy. He is an active chamber musician and enjoys community outreach through teaching and concerts. 

 

He holds BM and MM degrees from the Juilliard School as well as the Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music.
