Yulia Ziskel has established herself as a highly acclaimed solo, chamber, and orchestral musician. A member of the New York Philharmonic's First Violin section (Friends and Patrons Chair), her activities include numerous international solo and chamber music appearances.
Ms. Ziskel has been praised by the Strad Magazine for “The sweetness of her sound.”
Ms Ziskel has been very active during the COVID lockdown, including a recent livestream chamber music concert from 92nd Street Y, a recital of Music for Solo Violin at the New York City Museum of Art and Design; two chamber music streaming performances at Merkin Concert Hall, performing at the livestreamed festival, “Classic at Home,” celebrating Beethoven’s 250th birthday with a string quartet arrangement of his Fourth Symphony; being part of New York Philharmonic’s “Bandwagon,” which brought chamber music performances throughout New York’s five boroughs, and recording chamber music at Merkin Concert Hall. Ms. Ziskel’s pre-pandemic appearances include chamber music performances in West Palm Beach, Florida, a chamber music tour of Italy, the world premiere of a piece for solo violin by Michael Hersch, commissioned for Ms. Ziskel by the New York Philharmonic, a tour of Spain and the Ballearic Islands, recitals at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall; Lyric Chamber Music Society of New York, Avery Fisher Hall, and regular chamber music appearances as a member of New York Philharmonic Ensembles.
Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Yulia Ziskel began her musical training on the violin and piano at age 4. She made her solo debut at the age of 7 at the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall and at age 12 as a soloist with St. Petersburg Chamber Orchestra. She toured extensively during her teenage years, appearing in solo recitals throughout Russia, Germany, Finland, Poland and United States. In 1994, Ms. Ziskel's family emigrated to the United States, where she completed her Bachelor of Music degree at Indiana University and her Master’s Degree from the Juilliard School.
